Five Nights at Freddy's (2023) Review: A Horror Movie for the Whole Family?

Five Nights at Freddy's follows Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson), a security guard who takes a night shift job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a family entertainment center with four animatronic mascots that entertain the guests during the day. But at night, the animatronics become possessed by the spirits of murdered children and come to life, hunting down Mike and the other night shift employees.

Mike must use security cameras and other tools to track the animatronics and prevent them from entering his office. If an animatronic enters the office, Mike is killed and the game is over.

The film also explores the backstory of the animatronics and the murders that led to their possession. It is revealed that the animatronics were created by William Afton (Matthew Lillard), a serial killer who used the restaurant to lure in and kill his victims.
